God’s Word is Not a Magic Potion

God’s Word is not a Magic Potion, it is Truth, it is Spirit and it is Life.

We can put our trust in the Word for it is truth. We can rely on God’s Word.

Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. John 17:17

God is a Spirit and we have been created in His image. Therefore when we worship Him we must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.

But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:23-24

As we continue to read in the Gospel of John we see that God’s Word is also life.

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63

Because we are spirit beings and must worship the Lord from within our spirit and we must also speak His Word from within our spirit.

I often hear people making faith confessions, but I wonder some times if they are treating the Word as though it were a magic potion. Not realizing of course they are doing this. but the Word of God is NOT a magic potion, it is Spirit and it is Life. When we speak the Word from within our spirit it then becomes life. It’s not what comes forth from between the mind and the mouth, but what comes forth from within the spirit and the mouth that causes the Word to become life.

It is a living Word and a powerful Word that brings results.

The word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Heb 4:12

Put the Living Word into Your Spirit

Each day we must take time to spend time with God through His Word. This requires discipline. Our flesh wants to be active, but our spirit man must get quiet and commune with the Father.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105

Why would we want to start our day without lighting our path? It seems foolish to light the path after we’ve already walked it. The day is now over. Not that we shouldn’t read the Bible in the evening, but start the day with at least one or two verses. A morning devotional book is good and it is usually not too lengthy. The Lord knows what the day holds, but we don’t. Let Him give light to the day before you begin to walk it out. Allow Him to lead you into a productive, prosperous and a more stress free path.

To get the Word into our spirit we must continue throughout the day to meditate on what we read. We meditate by thinking about what we read and then softly speaking it back to ourselves. Yes, talk to yourself! Then thank Him for what the Word said to you that morning.

When we do this, the Word becomes alive and powerful in our every situation. It enables us to have good success.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua 1:8

We must strive to have the Word in us on a rich level.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Col 3:16

The word richly clearly tells us what level we are to strive for. If the Word is at a rich level we can expect to have rich level results. If the Word is on a low and weak level, we will have low and weak results.

Several times when I was ministering in Africa I saw the lions which had killed their prey and then having them for dinner. Well the Bible tells us the devil is just like a lion.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. I Peter 5:8

The devil wants to have us for dinner, but if the Word is within us at a rich level, we will be sober and vigilant and the devil will have no victory over us.

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you… James 4:7-8a

The Word of God is Truth, Spirit and Life. Get it within you on a rich level and speak it from within your spirit. It is not a magic potion. It is living and powerful, let it become alive and powerful in every situation you encounter.

Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ… 2 Cor. 2:14a

God bless you.
